For most people who look at this job it's more like, getting paid to play video games all day. But the actual work can actually be really boring and sometimes frustrating. I've been a video game tester for a while now and I can honestly say, it's not what i expected to go into when i started.

What Do We Do?
First thing you have to know about video game testing is that most of the work is very different from playing a video game for fun. During the game testing cycle, video game testers do a bunch of different tasks that all all similar to check for bugs.For example, a video game tester might have to walk around to every NPC ( non-player-character) and write down what each one says. Another task may be to plug in and unplug the controller at different times in the game to check for bugs, in case the game freezes at certain parts in the game.
The tasks are set up daily, one day you check for NPC responses. The next day you might have to run through the whole game holding a couple of buttons at the same time.
Video game testers barely have any freedom when it comes to the tasks, so it's more like an average job. You come in, you finish your tasks, and you come back the next day for more.

Video Game Tester Salary Depends On Experience
New video game testers can expect to make anywhere from $9-$15 per hour. This is pretty decent considering the fact that most of the video game projects may take you anywhere from 60-80 hours a week. So there's chance for overtime and double pay.So you can be making about $25 per hour on your first month on the job. That's if you are a hard worker though. If you don't want to work as much you can, but you won't be making as much money as you can.
Some video game testers even make over $100 per hour. You just need more experience to make this much. You also need to understand that you will need to work long hours and it may be a month between paycheck.
